We're Back!

We’re back! What a great time we had in the South! The flowers! The fauna! I really believe in another lifetime I was a southern belle…it is just such a beautiful part of the country! I can’t wait to share with you what we did! The weather was great and we spent lots of time on the beach.

But the first place we headed was The Family Circle Tennis Cup on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. What a beatiful island this is! (See link!) Our family enjoys playing tennis and we play all summer. What better way to start our vacation than to watch the quarter and semifinals of this women’s clay competition? This cup is the precursor to the French Open and many of the top seeded women players were there. Here is Serena Williams pulling up...
We usually play on clay so it was exciting to watch all the players, particularly doubles…

My eldest daughter is a die hard fan and since the arena is smaller the players were accessible for autographs. My youngest had no idea what she was doing but enjoyed getting the signatures anyway!

We saw Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Serena Williams (the big winner!), Jelena Jankovic…I was thrilled for them but had a hard time keeping my nose out of the endless blooms surrounding me!

Finally, the girls pulled me aside and told me, “Stop smelling all those flowers and watch the tennis, Mom!”

PS> Thanks for all the good karma you sent my way for a great vacation--it worked!

Tara, I'm glad you had a great time. It sounds so fun! I've got a huge house project going on, so though I'm posting each day I haven't gotten to read other blogs much. It was great to catch up with you again. Love, RAchel
