Georgia Peach Pound Cake on a Hot NY day

My family has been commenting on my lack of cooking lately...the weather gets warm, my desire wanes... the peaches on the counter start getting overripe! Wait! Overripe peaches?

Hmmm...this got me to thinking about the Georgia Peach Pound cake recipe from Karla and Beth's Sweet Treats and Roses recipe swap last winter! I have shared recipes from this cookbook before and here is another winner! The recipe comes from Sandy at dreamcreateinspire.
I was so happy I could use these peaches...

Creamed the butter and sugar in my grandmother's 70s KitchenAid (a workhorse!)...

Dry ingredients to be added...

Floured pan...

In the oven for 75 minutes...the house smelled great...the kids kept sauntering past the oven, peeking through the glass to see what was baking. "Mom, you actually made something?", said my always starving college guy. "You said it was too hot!", said my youngest daughter. The rumour of a baked cake spread to the den where my husband was trying to catch a nap. "Mom is baking something!", said my eldest daughter. "You're kidding", said my hubby. "When is it coming out?" was the big question from all...

Is this a beautiful cake or what? Thanks, Sandy!

While I was loading the pics onto the computer, I could hear giggling from the kitchen, the clamor of plates, tea water being put in the kettle...I walked in to find the cake, still very warm, dolloped with vanilla ice cream...my husband making us decaf tea ...

And the kids eating up a storm saying, "This is delicious, Mom!" ..and it is! Sandy, straight from the content bellies of a New York family, thanks for your Georgia Peach Pound Cake recipe!

I hope you all enjoy this piece I put aside just for you--get it while it's warm! The way things are going around here it will not last for long!

Hi Tara,
LOVED reading your story and so glad that you tried to receipe! Now I'm hungry for it and gonna have to break down and make it - especially with the fresh GA peaches hitting the local markets.
Have a fabulous week and enjoy that cake!

Hi Tara,

That looks delicious! I baked yesterday too (in the heat) but just a batch of brownies. I have to admit I did not even watch the Belmont...hows that for a horse woman? ha ha

Well, the cake looks scrumptious! But I have to thank you for the Google Reader tip earlier. I had been meaning to mosy on over there and check it out. So I spent the entire morning today working on it. And it's great! But, I skipped over to check you out and they hadn't given me the green light that you'd posted today! So I'm a little worried about that...

Yum! It's a little too hot to turn on the oven, though. We don't have central air...
I'll definitely try it out when it gets a little cooler, though...

Stay cool, Tara!

I've been missing you and just caught up. As usual, a most enjoyable post. Your yard is lovely and inviting. We'll be right over to eat some of that cake on that deck.

You have my heart regarding your Dad's health issues. A bit of a Daddy's girl myself, I think I can identify with your feelings.
