Celebrating Mother's Day

Hope you had a fun time celebrating Mother's day with you and yours!

Many thanks to all the good karma sent my way on my 100th post! Gosh, what a great group of people out in the land of Blog! I am going to complete the details of my giveaway later this week...
Where else would I want to be on Mother’s Day then with my children! Since my son attends art college in New York City, we headed off to the Big Apple! Here's a street of his campus...

Some artwork on the sidewalk in front of the college's museum...
His dorm...17 stories high! He has a 2 bedroom apartment he shares with three other guys. I should tell you the apartments in this area of New York go for over 1.5 million dollars...
A mural the Fine Arts majors designed...
His college is located in the Garment District of Manhattan. Seventh Avenue is also known as Fashion Avenue due to its role as the center of the fashion and garment industry and the famed fashion designers who established New York as a fashion design capital. My son is an Advertising Design major but was nonetheless excited when Giorgio Armani came to campus last week to the speak to the students. Last year the designer made over $68 million dollars but my son said he was such a regular guy when he was giving the students advice! My son added when Giorgio Armani pulled up in his limo, the kids went crazy cheering and yelling. Where else but in New York City?

We all headed off to Times Square to catch some dinner...

But not before we stopped for a warm, delicious pretzel cozily toasted by a street vendor (you cannot replicate the Manhattan flavor at home!)...
And a ride for our 7 year old daughter on a four story ferris wheel (with her brother!) at the Times Square Toys R Us store...Off to Tony's Di Napoli for dinner! I emailed Pat of Mille Fiore Favoriti about where to take the girls, my son and hubby for a family dinner and Tony's did not disappoint! Thanks, Pat, you're my NYC guru! The food was family style Italian...
The view from our table...
Then it was back to the college to drop off my son for his last week of freshman year. I gave him a big kiss and wished him good luck for finals week. He gave me a card thanking me for supporting him all year. I was touched. When your kids are happy, you are happy!

It was such a great Big Apple day! There really is just nowhere else in the world like it, that I can tell you!

Thanks, Tara, for calling me your "NYC guru" ...lol! I'm glad Tony DiNapoli's didn't disappoint. There are so many restaurants to choose from in that area but "family style" is always a good deal when you dine with children.

Congratulations and kudos to you son for choosing an exciting course of study, and for his special words to you on Mother's Day.

Loved all your NYC photos too!

Hugs, Pat

Hi Tara,
It sounds like you had a great time on Mother's Day. How wonderful it must be to live so close to New York City that you can just pop in. I would love that!
How's the music coming along? Have you been able to put together a play list? I'll check back to see what you came up with.
TTFN! Cori

Tara,

My friend and neighbor went to your son's college (FIT ?) and she became a sportswear designer for Ralph Lauren. What a great school and I wish him all the luck! He must be very talented.

What a wonderful day trip. Oh, the robin's nest is too great. I love robins' eggs, so pretty, fragile, and blue. And how neat that she has entwined blue within the nest's rim.
