Come On In!

Come on in!
Inspired by blogs I’ve happened upon, suddenly I’m taking the dishes out of the cabinets! Suddenly I’m making “tablescapes”! Suddenly I’m rearranging furniture and enjoying my house! I feel like I have been asleep and not really paying attention to my old friend, my home.

I made holiday tags from Christmas cards as suggested by Abbie. This morning I dropped off some post-holiday gifts to family we were unable to visit during the holidays. They thought these tags were great (plus they kept my 7 year old busy for a Sat. afternoon!).

One afternoon I made fudge from Karla’s Cottage.
You could hear the comments reverberating through the hallway:
Son: Hey, Mom made fudge!
Eldest daughter: WHAT??
Son: I know! It’s chocolate!!
Eldest daughter: Are you kidding me? Is it done yet?

I so enjoy Mary’s daily meanderings through her Little Red House. She inspired me to spend a sunny afternoon last weekend in my livingroom really looking at what’s in there and enjoying the stories that room has to tell.

My family cannot figure out what is going on! Not even my husband…
“There’s a lot going on here lately-why?”
Me: I’m reading these design blogs…well, not really professional blogs but women who are just really in love with their homes and the life that goes on in them. They’re just so inspirational!
Response: Hmmmm, Read on!

I feel like I have woken from a decorating slumber! Thank you for making me enjoy where I am in the present moment! I was really here all the time! And winter is such a great time for beginning to enjoy my surroundings. Thank you, thank you for the inspiration!

Welcome to blogging! I loved reading that post because I felt the same way when I found all the decorating blogs! You'll be doing even more now that you have a blog because it gives you things to blog about. I feel I'm more productive with my life now than ever.

Thanks for the email about my bedroom furniture! That furniture was my sister's when we were growing up. That's so funny that you have the same set. It was also in the Apollo 13 movie. It must have been really popular in the 60s!

It is amazing isn't it - the way you feel more and more inspired by seeing what others are doing. It makes you look at your home in a new way with fresh, open eyes. I totally understand what you mean. Even my husband will say that he thinks something would look good in my blog - even he's thinking about it!

So glad you're here Tara!
