I am joining Mary at Little Red House to celebrate Mosaic Monday, a great photo project your can do here at Big Huge Labs. Recently our family took a trip to Charleston, that glorious southern city, full of good manners, soft drawls, and delicious seafood! Each of these historic homes has a southernly exposed "sleeping porch". According to our wonderful guide, when the doors were open, these porches helped "air condition" the homes by grabbing the ocean breezes.
During very hot weather, families might have slept out here as well, feeling the cool air all night. The enclosed second floor porches were perfect for this.
I hope you can see them all, I realize my mosaic came out very small when uploaded to Blogger---wonder why??

Another city I've called home...we call it the Holy City...living off the Battery in an old Carriage House turned into an apartment top dwelling, how I loved it.
I hope you enjoyed your journey

we just watched "The Notebook" last night. Oh how I long to see the south. I've never been further then Missouri.
Are you hammocking today?
xoxo Cori
OH I love your mosaic! It's small but lovely. I'm saying this with my best southern drawl :D.
What a great subject for Mosaic Monday! I've never been to Charleston but I'd sure like to visit. Thank you for featuring these classic houses and Happy Mosaic Monday! ~Arleen
Oh Tara, those houses are all so beautiful! I've never been to Charleston, but I hope to visit someday. I'll bet the gardens were fabulous, too. I hope you guys enjoyed the marvelous weather this weekend. Thanks so much for joining the fun at Mosaic Monday. :)

Gorgeous houses! Charleston is a beautiful place to visit. Your mosaic makes me want to go back!
Oh how beautiful! I haven't been to Charleston in years! I think I need to go back! Isn't it just the most beautiful Southern town? I'm playing along for the first time and really enjoying the gorgeous mosaics!...Debbie
I don't know why it came out so small either! But it's beautiful.
I use Windows Live Writer and the minima stretch template. But I can't use the pretty template types such as you have here. So c'est la vie, I guess.
Love your houses. And your music that isn't annoying.
Each home is gorgeous. I didn't know that about sleeping on the porch in hot weather. I have never visited there, but it looks lovely. Beautiful mosaic.

What beaufitul grand old houses..I've heard what a wonderful city this is, hopefully one day I can see it for myself!
I have always wanted to visit Charleston, maybe some day:>) I have the same problem with my mosaics if I blog them from Flickr, so I right click and save them in my pictures and blog them form there. They come out much bigger that way:>)
Gorgeous old rambling mansions! They would be so fascinating to explore!
The gorgeous homes of Charleston made a fabulous Mosaic Monday theme Tara!

Beautiful Homes! Love your mosaic. :0)
I just posted my very first mosaic a few days ago. I sure had fun making it!
Those pink and yellow flowers on your sidebar are so cute!
These homes evoke another time and place for sure. They just breathe history.
love charleston
great pics!
Oh, I'm just dying to go to Charleston. I'm also just dying to have a sleeping porch. There must be a connection!
I love Charleston!! that's a beautiful mosaic
I think this mosaic captures Charlestons old homes on the water perfectly. We go to Charleston often and it gets better every time we go. I would love to curl up and sleep on one of those porches.
