The owner of Tate's is Kathleen King. Kathleen King made her reputation--and a thriving bakery business--on her famous chocolate chip cookies, a longtime favorite in the Hamptons and beyond. In TATE'S BAKE SHOP COOKBOOK, she brings her touch for simple, utterly delicious cookies, muffins, pies, cakes, scones and brownies to every home baker. Each one of Kathleen's recipes is easy to make at home, built from scratch, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Most of her recipes can be made in less time than it would take to go and get a store-bought version!
Ina Garten wrote the forward and frequents the bakery! Nope, did not see Ina when I was there!
Right away, I bought her cookbook. Or I should say my Mom bought it for me for Valentine's Day. Mom has had the cookbook for awhile and everything from it is delicious! What I especially love is you have everything at hand...no special ingredients necessary! I have it on my Shelfari below and it is available here at Amazon.
There's even a section with recipes for energy bars, granola, and other healthy treats that Kathleen--an avid outdoorswoman--developed for biking and hiking trips.
You don't need a special occasion for Kathleen's recipes--but she can help with terrific ideas for birthday cakes, picnic basket goodies, bake sale offerings and more. TATE'S BAKE SHOP COOKBOOK will get you into the kitchen and out with a little heaven on a plate!
Some of the recipes you'll want to make again and again include:
Blueberry muffins
Ginger scones
Sour cream pound cake
Zvi's cinnamon swirl bread
Old-fashioned soft sugar cookies
Double peanut chocolate cookies
Beach brownies
Peach pie
Apple cranberry crisp
Carrot cake

Ahhh Tara what fun place to be able to visit! Imagine if you did run into Ina?
Their cookbook sounds like one I have to have -- thanks for the link!
Hugs, Pat
PS Did you get a chance to visit The Pink Teacup in Manhattan?
Who doesn't love Ina, and who wouldn't take her recommendation on a bakery?
Next time we're out on the East End, I think that's a must-stop for us!
Thanks! Cass
Oh all the recipes sound delish especially the Ginger scones and sour cream pound cake!! What a fun place to visit.
Hi Tara!
Oh it all sounds so wonderful! It's so nice to have the ingredients when you find a recipe you want to try. I love it when you don't have to go anywhere just to get the ingredients! I'm glad you had such great trip!!

Who is Ina? I think I must live in a bubble.
Moring Tara, Thanks for coming by. As you know, my Tara just left, sad day for me, but we had a great time. The bakery and the cookbook sound awesome. I love cookbooks, so I will check it out at Amazon.
Have a great day.
...mmm...tasty... :o) I'll take a slice/piece of anything--LOL! Happy Day ((HUGS))
I don't know which I love more ... Ina or bakeries.
Unfortunately, that would probably have to be ... bakeries.
Thanks for the peek!
Looks like a fun book! I would like to find out more about the beach brownies. Yum!
After your tip about my Christmas Cactus, I had to look it up; I found that you were correct! My Christmas cactus is now tucked behind a towel curtain in the basement. I won't bring her out until St. Patrick's Day...it can't hurt! Thanks for your visit and your comment.
Oh gosh, I'm drooling just reading about all those goodies! :)
xoxo,
Mary
Mac is gonna have a conniption but I'm going to be adding another cook book to my collection...pray for me!

Oh wow! I am a huge Ina fan! If we ever get a chance to visit the States, there's a B&B at the Hamptons that I have my eye on for a few nights so we can explore the area. The cook book sounds wonderful sweetie, I will have to check it out very soon, although my husband thinks there's nothing better than Tara's french toast........lol.
Have a terrific weekend my dear friend!
Amanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
If only I could go there...happy weekend Tara :D
Hi Tara :)
That book looks great and that cake alone would be worth buying it LOL
I'm still trying to get over the wood pile story. I would have kissed that log too!

I love the look of that shop Tara! And the cookbook too! I used to go to Ina's shop in East Hampton and was able to buy a signed copy of her first book there for my mom. I love it out there...

I love NYC, and your pics are fabulous! I've never heard of that bake shop, and I'm happy to know about it! Sounds great. I might look into that cookbook.
Thanks so much for sharing...

Sounds like a great cookbook! I'd love to visit The Hamptons and see all the beautiful houses and great shops! :-) Thanks for taking us along with you! Susan
I can see Kathleen's dad, Tate's farm from my house. She started out selling her choc chip cookies there as a kid.
There's a story to why the name was changed to Tate's from Kathleen's Bake Shop.
