Welcome to the Arboretum!

At the north end of the river near my home lies an arboretum. It harbors plants and trees not necessarily indigenous to New York. The long ago owners, New York socialites of the 19th century, used the mansion on the grounds as their summer home. The breakfast room was recently renovated by the arboretum's historical society. Join me as I sneak on over for a sunrise breakfast!

Isn't this sideboard just beautiful!?

Still decorated for the holidays, the room's theme is creme and white...
Gold touches are everywhere...

The table is a demilune. I have never seen one this large, it's so unusual! We can sit here and feast on great food and river views!
A close up of one of the creme chairs...

We'll be having halved grapefruits, french toast and apricot rum cake for dessert...

More coffee? The apricot rum cake was exquisite! I wonder if I can get the arboretum to give up the recipe!! Hope you enjoyed breakfast, have a great day! :0)

Hello Tara,
I am so sorry to hear that you're living in the freezing cold, but it looks like you were able to make it out for breakfast. In a darling room like that I'd be happy with hot water and stale bread!

I think it was 84 here today...YUK!!!
I hope you're keeping toasty!
