Yesterday my daughter and I found this caterpillar in our garden. She caught it and we sat wondering where she was going, what she'd become. After a hurried day at school for Field Day, it was nice to contemplate about this crawling creature and her short lived adventures before becoming a butterfly.
We talked and talked and I think she got more out of just being together in the garden than all the organization of the Field Day events. When I think of summer, I think of moments in the sun where you get to breathe, relax, and wonder what a caterpillar's been up to all day!
I am so glad this season is here!

Quiet moments like these are summer treasures. Remember when you were a kid and spent summer outdoors? I do, it was magical. I dont think our kids get enough of that. I hope you have lots more of these special times with your kids this summer:>)
What a lovely time you spent with your daughter. These special moments mean so much to both of you.
If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies,
he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it,
rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in"

Hi Tara,
What a sweet post on contemplating the travels of a caterpillar. You do wonder what they've been up to. It's wonderful that you were able to spend time with your daughter. I think that with the size of classrooms kids don't get enough individual attention. Who better to get it from then their mother.

I love those moments. Little Lizzie used to be so fascinated by caterpillars. Hopefully Tucker survived his visit from the dog groomer. We are taking Oliver (the cat) to get shaved in 2 weeks. I'll be interested to see his reaction. I'm thinking major trauma.
How sweet! It's wonderful to have memories like these.
Hugs,
Donna
