It’s spring and my mind is on exercising. I truly hate to exercise! If you could buy health in a can, go to a doctor for a prescription, drive somewhere to buy it, I’d be the first one there. But actually move to maintain health? When books call for the reading and movies yearn to be watched??

On Memorial Day I decided I need to have a physically responsible year. At 46. You’d think this would hit me at 40…it just took awhile. So, I bought Tucker (our dog) a new collar and leash and we’ve been off walking. He’s been the couch potato I have snuggled with the most all winter and we have both come home panting and in need of water!

Here are some of my sights from yesterday…I figure if I share them with you, motivation will strike! A view of the river from our small town beach...

Don't you wish you were on one of these sailboats hooked up side by side? I did!
I watched the kayakers taking off...I have done this and it is fun...maybe again??
A huge piece of drift wood that's come ashore and was not here last spring...
It smelled so great down by the river...salt-filled breeze...
OK, Tucker, go get your new leash ( I had to buy SOMETHING!) and let's take off again! This walk felt great!

Ugh! I need some motivation to get moving, too. I think I just need to get out of the mindset that there are always other more important things I should be doing, because exercise IS important! Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures.

When we were on vacation it got me to moving again. I'm hoping to keep it up:-). I love walking along lakes.

Wow, that's beautiful! I just love being near water. And yes, you are right! I would just love to be in one of those boats travelling up and down the river or just taking a lazy nap as the gentle waves rock the boat, with the smell of sea air in my nose!

Hi Tara!
I've got the eating down pat! Now I just need the exercise!! I DO get exercise but I need more structured stuff. I'm going to try Michael Thurmond's exercise, I've been on his eating plan and have done great. My hubby just got me his book that combines both plans... hey wait... is that a hint? I know he's just being a sweetie as usual.

I don't like to "exercise". But I love to hike, play tennis, swim, play golf etc. There just doesn't seem to be enought time.

Maybe I should blog less and move more - lol.

Well done on your walking Tara! You are more likely to stick to it when you have lovely scenery to enjoy along the way! Gx

Tara, it's nice to see the surroundings here in your blog..it's way too far for me to visit. I HATE exercise at all times, I wanted to diet, so its either cut down on food or step up on exercise, both not happening at all.
happy weekend :)

The views of your town are beautiful!
I know what you mean about exercising, not one of my favorite things. Walking Otis and Riley and working in the garden is about it for me!
Hugs,
Donna

Tara,

We kayak together as a family and that does not seem so much like exercising. Walking a doggie seems like fun too! I am not a big fan of traditional exercising. Blech!

Hi Tara!

We're fianlly back from our vacation in Ireland! We had a wonderful time, and did a lot of walking which helped us burn off all the Guinnesses we drank ...lol!

I love to walk, but unfortunatley I also love to eat, so it hasn't been much help in weight loss for me, but it's still a great way to exercise!

Hugs, Pat

Hi Tara, thank you for sharing the sights in your hometown... I'm turning 40 next year and exercise is still not part of my lifestyle. I better get to it, huh...

I kayaked once at the beach. Wait- no - I watched my friends kayak at the beach LOL

Good for you sweetie taking the fitness bull by the horns! I loathe exercizing too and would prefer to do it naturally like you are by walking, and such a pretty place you have to walk Tara!

I love your river. We have a river here too and I always like the views, but our lack of beaches and marinas don't even compare to yours.
