Shelving Pattern

Shelving can celebrate the uniqueness of a collectible. A vignette can tell a story but one piece in solitude can make you stop and ponder its beauty.

Recently when I visited my Mom I brought a camera along. She is such a great decorator and I noticed she has solitary shelves all over the house! Come take a walk with me!

I love these delicate ladies...

A butterfly perched in her kitchen...
She used shelving to bring special attention to vases...

This hummingbird plate is so colorful...

Such an exquisite shelf here!

A bird and rabbit on this shelf...
My favorite, pics of my youngest when she was the flower girl in my cousin's wedding...
These are all so unique and different and make such a statement in her rooms. The best part of the visit? Coming into the kitchen and finding Ina Garten's Lemon cake (but orange was used here!) coming out of the oven. Mom, put the tea on! Let's talk about your shelves! :0)

What a sweetheart, your youngest! And as for the cake - send all the leftovers (if there are any!) directly to me!

P.S. Come on by my place later - I finally finished the "about me" post! Better late than never!

What a nice thing to say about Mom! I have adult daughters, and I think just now they're beginning to appreciate my decorating style. For a long time, they deviated away from my color-filled house and resorted to browns... I think they're finally turning the corner on that one.

What a beautiful home your mother has. She looks like a wonderful decorator and cook! I love Barefoot Contessa's lemon/orange cakes and make them all the time too! They freeze beautifully, and when I'm really going all out, I put cream cheese frosting on them! yummy! Have a lovely weekend Tara!

Tara, I love your Mom's home, and when you let us have a peek inside. Oh yes, Ina Garten's lemon cake. My mom used to visit her original bakery in the Hampton's when she lived nearby. Mmmm, I can almost smell it, orange or lemon still a favorite. Speaking of favorites, I have an award over at my place for you today. when you get a chance, please stop by and bring it home. Blessings, Karen

How creative to collect your collections on collectable shelves! Really. I love this idea of all the individual, ornate units. The butterfly on the lily-of-the-valley is my fav. Kudos to MoM !
