Demilune

My parents were at an estate sale years ago and came upon this demilune table. They were kind enough to pass it off to me! I have had it in the basement for awhile in bits and pieces.

I wanted to bring it into the livingroom (the room in my banner) to display some of my antique book collection...and to actually have the books out so I'll read them when I get time in the afternoon to sit on my couch!!

The top is made of a beautiful demilune slab of marble...

The edge and legs are baroque in style...
I followed Holly's lead from Whispering Oaks Cottage and filled my need for spring by taking seashells I had from childhood and putting them in a glass vase...along with two horse bookends from our honeymoon in Mexico...

and lastly, this statue from my Mom, who is really my very best friend in the world! She says it's us!
The best part? I didn't spend a dime (a al Abbie) and I love how it looks! I'm going off to read some Emily Dickinson now! :0)

Very nice arrangement on that beautiful table, Tara! I love antique books too. Did you ever go to the "NYC is Book Country" fair in Manhatten during the summer? it's a great way to shop for them.

Thanks for posting on my blog with your suggestion about adding more red. As soon as I read your suggestion, I thought "Now that is a great idea...why didn't I think of that"?!?! LOL!

Also, thanks for adding me on your blog list. I am sooooo excited because I am relative newby to blog world and you are only the third person to have added me to their list and well, it is just nice that you thought to do that! THANK YOU!

Your parents did good! That table is stunning and I love the glass container with the seashells. I think it would look great if you put some stacked books under the table topped with a little something like statuary or something. :) Happy Day! ~ Lynn

That table would look so wonderful in my home too - you have exquisite taste. The figure is lovely too.

Off to read Emily Dickenson? I just watched Masterpiece Theatre and Mansfield Park - quite lovely.

Happy Day!

Beautiful table. It fits well in the space. ANd I love that all your books are so accessible.

It looks like you had a wonderful Easter. I laughed at your cookie post. I have a family that tends to leave their evidence behind. Cannot even tell you how many time I've gone in the cupboard for an eagerly anticipated cookie and come out with an empty box!
