Bad Karma??

Is it possible to write about gratitude in one post and a perfectly rotten day in the next?

We’ve all had one of these days! I got into the car this morning to drive my little one to school and the battery was dead as a door nail. Wouldn’t even turn over. Mad scramble to get ourselves into the other car. Ripped my stockings on the lawnmower in the garage as we made the switch!

We were late to school and she had this panicked look on her face as the gym teacher waved her in as the last student before he closed the door. I felt rotten about that.

On the way to work I’m trying to talk myself out of this. “Hey,” my inner being said, “Just one of those days. You’ll get to work and everything will be fine. Shake it off!”

I get to work, sit at my desk in my beige suit, open my fountain pen and a huge splat of ink flies out and hits me in the left shoulder. On my beige suit. You know, I am just not feeling good karma!

And the topper?

A friend had lent me a book I wanted to read after my relentless begging. I really wanted to read this memoir but did not want to spend $25.00 for the privilege. It did not look like it was coming in paperback anytime soon. No sooner had I borrowed it but I left it on the dining room chair unread. And everyday I’d pass by with a load of laundry and say to myself, “You really have to read that book! Put it on your night stand!” Never did. On one laundry trip I noticed it had fallen on the floor. Now the mantra was, “You should really pick up that book!” Never did.

So I come home, ink blot on shoulder, ripped stockings, dead battery, and I see the book on the dining room floor. And I see our cute little Shih Tzu, Tucker, has deemed this a perfect spot to have a really LARGE poop accident—right on top of the BOOK! Right there, on the cover! Of every foot in a 2,000 square foot house he chooses right there! I pick up the book, try washing it, the smell is horrendous. There’s no way I can return this book to the friend and I am going to have to buy a new book for her.

What do you do when your dog takes a $25.00 poop and you’ve just had it? You let your blogging friends know so they’ll make you feel better after a ROTTEN day and go off and take a bath in steaming hot water.

I’m so bummed, I don’t even have a picture (but then, I do not think you need a visual!)

Oh Tara! Sweetie I'm sending a big hug your way. Will you hate me if I confess to laughing out loud about what your little doggie did? LOL I hope tomorrow is a complete turn around for you honey, and is wonderful!

I had a week like this one last week and was tempted to "blog" about it, but you beat me to it. I kept telling myself that God has a way of letting me know to "love and to serve" - When I do, things seem to go so much better. Now, go love and serve in good faith.
As my Father always will say, "Now that's better than a day in the hospital" and I think so too. Nothing that you cannot handle, new battery, new suit, new book and well the "Tucker" - he was merely doing his " business", to get you to take note and read the book!
Are you laughing today!
I love Tara and the way you keep it real!

Oh Tara, I am sorry, I am laughing in sympathy for you. I am SO sorry you had a rotten day. I was going to say bad things come in threes so you must be done with the bad stuff, but that fourth bad thing was the frosting on the cake (er, so to speak) Hopefully your bad Karma is all done now and you can have a great weekend!

I'm sorry about your lousy day. It was a little funny in its Monk-ness, though. This too, shall pass, and now you own a slightly-used copy of the book you couldn't bring yourself to buy, right? :)

Oh Tara!! I am giggling but giggling in sympathy WITH You! I have days like that so often that I think it is just part of my genetic makeup!
And pets...oh my. What can we do? We love them to pieces but they can do the most aggravating things. Now, if it had been MY book you borrowed, I would laugh and then have you removed the cover (Or wipe it off really well) and tell you not to worry. Pets and kids...they do awful things and the most wonderful things too!

I hope the bath made you feel better...know we are all here with you and do understand SO well!

Hugs,
Sue

We all have them Tara. I have to say you had your share all in one day - which means gray skies are gonna clear up and a good day in the hammock will certainly bring back the karma.

Good grief, the 25.00 dollar loo call was sad, but the telling of it was priceless! I hope your day today is much much better!

Oh my goodness, Tara, I'm so sorry! And I'm sory for getting just the tiniest giggle out of it, too! I think it was the doo-doo that did it...

Anyway, I'm sure after all that, your weekend will be divine!

My first comment didn't work. I think we have to have the occasional bad day to make us appreciate all the good days we have. I completely relate to the poop story, only in my case it's usually regurgitated hair balls. How do you explain that stain to someone?
I hope the rest of your day is much better. Of course, it's almost the weekend, so what's better than that!

I'd say Murphy's law got hold of you didn't it? :-). It's funny, but it's not about Tucker. I laugh because as you know, I have 3 of them and it's just like em to do just what Tucker did *giggles*.
I hope you have a peaceful & enjoyable weekend!

I second Janet's suggestion!

Really hope your weekend is good. It has to be, after a day like that!

Oh no!!
Thank goodness there is no visual of the doggy doo!!!!
Now when you buy that new book make sure you actually read it.
Some days do just go from bad to worse. That's the trouble with the 'real world' !!LOL

I am sorry that this book that you have so anticipated enjoying ... got such a bad review. [please forgive ... I couldn't help my rotten self]

I do hope that the steaming bath melted all of the rest of it away.

Hello Tara, oh what a day for you. Sorry about your day.

I read one chapter of 'A New Earth' and it was enough for one day. In this chapter I learned so much, that when i woke up this morning, i woke up with a certain peace after what I learned, and i practiced it - i reached out for my husband's hand and just held his fingers. I'm not sure what i am trying to say, only that there is something about this book, and this author...

Now about your friend's book. I hope you find a less expensive copy at amazon.com.

as for the bad karma, declare it null and void in the universe, you know, like, "i object, your honor" LOL. God bless, may your weekend be better.

hugs
Jeannie

I don't think the most creative writer in Hollywood could have written a better (or would it be worse) story. I hope you get around to reading that book and that it will be worth every dime of the $25. It's a good thing this all happened on a Friday so you can recoup by Monday.

Oh, I'm catching up here...Sorry to hear of your rotten day Tara :O(

I can relate to this.. feel like I've had a few myself lately, always a mad rush to the school bus and to work, and we come home to lovely little piles of poop from the dog, luckily though he's only allowed outside!

Hope you have better week!! :O)
