Please help me decide!

Redecorating our girls' rooms has spilled into the hallway. I have a grandmother clock here that a friend gave me when she divorced her husband. (Was sorry fo the divorce, glad for the clock!).

For the longest while I've had these portrait plates hanging around it. But I was looking for a change. I had seen these toile type plates in Marshalls around holiday time. I thought if they were still there I'd pick them up and they were! It's funny, when I was on line to pay the ladies around me were saying how nice they were and where did I find them? And I thought, well, they've been sitting there on the shelf since December! But I have done this myself--when the item is actually in someone's hands I notice it!

I came home and put them up and really can't seem to decide which way I like it better! So I am asking for your help-- as all of you have such great taste--which plates should I go with? What do you think?

Tara,

I like the "new" ones much better. I have seen them at "my" Homegoods.

Well Tara, I am such a sucker for toile that I don't know if you should count my answer or not. But here it is....the toile plates get my vote:>) Sometimes a little change makes all the difference. But if you don't "love" it, maybe it isnt the right change for you?

Hi Tara,
I just love the black and white ones, but the others look lovely there, too. I'd live with the new ones for a while, and see if they grow on you. Sometimes, we just get used to seeing a certain thing in a certain place...

Have a great weekend! Stay warm!
xoxo,
Mary

I vote for the toile ... and I am just grateful for such a clean campaign.

I also vote for Marshalls -- my home away from home.

The new ones are very pretty, but I think the first one just seem to "gel" with the lovely clock.

Hi Tara,
I like the toile ones for a lighter, summery feel. Use the darker ones in the winter when you want to warm up the space.
Thank you for the pot roast recipe.. it sounds wonderful!
Hugs,
Abbie

I agree with Country Cottage chic that the first ones just seem to "jel" with the clock. They are beautiful. I also like the fact that since it's outside your girls' room the plates reflect that space so to speak. The plates and the clock face also jel together, not so much the toile. Is the nearby bathroom tile the same tones? Plates in the bath...hmmm..so shabby chic! :)

Tara,
I really like the toile plates with your clock. For me they just "go together" giving a very eye pleasing look.
You have such a lovely home. Thanks for sharing it!

I agree with ABBIE :)
Picture #2 has a soft look, and picture #1 has a bold look. Just switch them when you need a change.

God Bless!

Hi Tara! Happy Leap Day!

I have the same exact Norman Rockwell plates that are in picture #1! In fact, I own that whole series of Rockwell plates. They are artwork from his early period, and I just loved the images when I bought them.

I have the little girl looking in the mirror in my bathroom, and the others are on a few plate railing shelves that are in my dining room, along with other decorative plates.

I personally like the Rockwell plates next to the clock (which is GORGEOUS, by the way!) I might be a little more old fashioned in my tastes, though, so don't listen to me. :-)

Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Pat

How much trouble could it be to switch them out every few weeks? I am like you and couldn't decide. I have 2 of the portrait plates you have, too...I have a rack hanging over the entry to the kitchen and switch them out every month. Then as I find new ones, they go in the plate drawer. It's a thought. I don't blame you for being thankful for the clock!

Both sets are just gorgeous, but I like the first ones with the clock. I looked at the face of your clock and the first plates really blend well with it:-).
Good luck and have a wonderful weekend!!

Tara,
Well I definately like the toile plates better, and if they had three more, I'd hang one right above in the center and one on each side at an angle. But this way is very pretty too, good job!

I love the way these plates look. It completely changes the look and I think it really frames the clock so nicely. Beautiful selection. Now you have me in the mood to rearrange my nic nacs and do a bit of Spring cleaning. Karen

I am terrible at giving advice, and you've already had lots of good advice, so I'm just going to say "Hi sweetie, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!"

Tara,
hmmm, decisions, decisions, yet my honest to goodness self tells me neither as the clock needs nothing. Being practical, I would use the toile plates to eat off and store those Rockwell plates away for a gift for your litte girl when she is a woman.
I would paint your hallway a green, a soft green -
pale moss - like the stem of a flower to that pink room!
best-

The LOWER absolutely! The upper ones are far too busy and conflicting with the clock face. The Lower are more muted and compliment the clock. They "work" together.

The clock is so beautiful. I don't think you need any plates. But I think you should do what you love! Have a wonderful weekend. Let us know what you decide. xo Rachel

I like PVE's suggestion. The old plates because they work so well with the clock face. :)

Decision, decisions...Both ways looks great in their own ways, but I think I'll have to go along with the second photo too...I LOVE toile, and the toile plates really stand along beautifully with handsome clock! What have you decided then? ;o) Happy weekend, my friend ((HUGS))
