Felicity from All Things Bright and Beautiful has asked me to share a blogging tip with you! She's on a mission to share as many as she can in Blogland-nice idea!
Maybe I’m a babe of media, but I find I am drawn to blogs with lots of pics. I find looking at pics and reading someone’s story of the day as relaxing as thumbing through a magazine. It’s like you are peaking into their thoughts, getting just a small, interesting snapshot of their daily journey. It’s so human, I’m hooked! And pics just draw me in.
On the ATBAB site, I’ve learned how to make pics bigger! Sometimes this is wonderful to show the detail of something you are trying to describe…and the Blogger large size just doesn’t do it! I’m sharing that tip with you below via Felicity/Hidden in France (she says it’s OK to pass the good word!)
My own tip? I try to take most of my room pics on my knees, sort of a Citizen Kane approach. I think my kids are getting used to seeing me do this around here! Rooms from this angle look so captivating. For instance, I took my banner photo on my knees!
Here’s how to make your pics bigger:
Resize photos without flickrby Hidden in France
Upload the photo to your post
Open the html/code section of a blogger/typepad post (if you're in Blogger click on blue underlined Edit Html button shown below in your post section)
You will see a Code like the one below
Note - there are 2 numbers a s1600 and a s400 in the code above.
Change the s400 to 800
In Typepad and other blog accounts - just HALVE the number or numbers of the first sentence above (ie where the s1600 falls) and type the halved amount into the second sentence (ie where the s400 is).
And it will enlarge the photo !!
Please note: This tip works best for portrait (up and down) rather than landscape (crossways) layout photos. The landscape ones tend to disappear off the edge of the post!!!
A sample: Here's Cinderella's Castle in Disney World Florida using Blogger large -
Here's Cinderella's Castle using this blogging tip! Kinda cool!!

I appreciate the photo tips Tara! Especially the one about taking photos of your rooms on your knees! I have never been happy with my room pics because they just didnt seem to capture the room at the right angle, I'm going to give this a try. Thanks again!
That is SO cool! Thank you for the tip. I will use it often, I'm sure. I, too, prefer blogs with lots of good pictures. I usually close the ones with tiny pictures immediately. I'm not sure about taking pics at floor level while I'm recovering from a knee injury. But it's a great tip. Thanks, again. ~Adrienne~
Great tips Tara but I'm such a blogger dummy that I can't even work out how to make my own banner.

I love Goofy the best of all and I see he is quite visible in the last picture...thank you for the tips Tara!

Great tips Tara. I like photos too with the post. Sometimes people put too many photos and flickering stuff and music which causes a post to take forever to see. The other day I was taking photos of my dining room for a later post and I was on my knees, on my back, standing on a ladder.....lol...just all over the place.
thanks for joining the drawing on my blog..but..there were a few wee rules about the drawing. I hope you'll stop back by and see what I mean.(grins)
Great tip! Thanks Tara.
wow, that is a 'big' differance! I love the larger one.
I refuse to become html-illiterate the way old ladies forget how to program a VCR, but I'll admit it makes no sense to me 99% of the time. Thanks for the tip - my photos are never big enough for me!
Good luck with the kids' rooms. My girls still share (only 2 bedrooms in the house) but we did the clear-out/re-do thing last summer and I know how much work it is.
Excellent! Thanks for the cool tips sweetie! Hope you're having a great day!

Tara, Thanks for visiting and thanks for the photo tips, I'll try them this week! Lori
