What was I thinking? When the kids said they wanted to switch their bedrooms around, I thought this would be an easy one weekend project. Um, no.
Have you heard from me? No. That’s because I can’t get to the computer in the living room there is just so much stuff in it from these bedrooms!
My girls have decided to split up after a few months of discussion. This was a big decision for them; they are 7 and 14 but liked being together. Funny, it was the elder who did not want to leave the younger. Sometimes I’d go in there at night and see my little one all snuggled up sleeping with her protective sister and my heart would melt. One year at Christmas they hung lights around the perimeter of their room and they never took them down. They said they were fairy lights and liked to go to bed with them twinkling.
So I took a ton of pictures because even though it’s time for change, I am not really ready for it.
All gone, except the fairy lights!
We actually started with my son’s room. I should be ashamed to tell you the amount of dustballs in that room. He borrowed Lord of the Rings from his best friend when he was in 7th grade. Guess what? 6 years later, we found it buried in there!
I am letting each child design their own room with their own budget. We have done almost all shopping at Amazon.com, they have a ton of bedding sets (I never knew they did bedding!). Over the next few weeks, I’ll share the results.
Right now we are having the floors refinished….like I said, I thought this was going to be a weekend project! Argh!
P>S> I am doing a swap with Abbie from Whimsy of a Staggering Woman...now this is the kind of swap I like, thanks Abbie!!

I wonder how often you'll find the girls in each other's beds? Old habits are hard to break, after all...and there isn't quite anything like the love a sister has for a sister...
Sandi
I am sure the girls will miss each other.my sister and I are 6 years apart and always shared a room. I never had my own room until she got married and I was 16. So for 5 years until I got married at 21 I had my own room. After sharing it does seem lonely.
Have fun making over the rooms.

Tara - I left a message on May December home for you re the frames :-)
Wow, it sounds like a big, but fun (for them!) job. Can't wait to see the after photo's!

Hi, Tara! Thanks so much for stopping by my place this week. Such fun to meet you and come find you lovely blog! Your home is beautiful. And this bedroom project for the kids sounds like fun. But, wow, you've got a lot going on--LOL! Looking forward to seeing after shots...and I just look forward to coming back and visiting. Have a great weekend! ((HUGS))
My kids used to switch their rooms around when I went to the grocery store ... I kid you not! And ... there were bunk-beds involved. The first time it freaked me out, after that I was just grateful for the chance for them to clean under their beds.
cool, looking forward to seeing the results of the switch. love the fairy lights idea.
Tara: Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such kinds words. I've enjoyed my visit with you and shall stop by again and again.
Haha, I had to laugh about your son's room -- my daughter is the one with the "room of doom," where the dust bunnies go to breed, and mutate into dust mastodons. :) I can reliably report that no one has seen the floor in at least three years!
xoxo,
Mary
Hi Tara!
your welcome! It's going to be so much fun!! :) My daughter's have just started sharing a room. The baby we moved in to T's room last month. So I'm just starting the adventure of two sister's together. It must be fun to help them designs their rooms. Good luck! Can't wait to see more pics!

You're a very brave mum letting your girls design their own rooms!
Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
I might just have to do the same - my eldest is getting a makeover when she turns 13 {next year}.
My 2 have monthly 'sleep-overs' in each other's rooms on a fold up bed, which is always fun! Gx
I've been here for a bit, catching up with you. You have been busy! These posts remind me of so many similar things in my little corner of the world. Is that water picture from Sunday your backyard? I'm so jealous if it is. Again, I love stopping by. So much color and warmth.
All the chaos will be over soon and the results will be beautiful. I will be starting the redecorating of my dining room next week, I also think it will only take a weekend to complete. You had asked about how I recovered my bench seat, I will be recovering my dining room chairs and I'll show you how I did mine.
Connie
Good luck. It must be a bit traumatic for you ... the picture of those fairy lights around the perimeter all alone would do me in! But, I'm sure the results will be beautiful, and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of the done deals!
