Bedroom

Taking a moment to tour my bedroom! I was on Penny’s Lavender Hill when I saw the latest project she is working on matches my room (Hint! Hint! Hope this ends up in her shop for sale!!)

This room has been a variety of light colors and it always had a hotel-like feel to it as a result. I just could not warm it up. At the end of the day, after job and kids, we just want a warm and fuzzy place to repose.

I started thinking about a warm red. But a commitment to red is scary! Will the color keep us up at night? Give us bad dreams? You know, bedroom color is major! Doesn’t it affect you psychologically?? It has to be a soothing sanctuary!

My husband jumped in, saying maybe we’d do just one wall and see what it looked like. We liked it and went for all the walls…..our furniture is white so I think this counters the depth of color. I had a friend make the duvet cover in golds and red…the matelasse shams and pillows are a TJ Maxx find. Red made the room warm, something it was severely lacking.

At day’s end, I feel we’ve accomplished what we wanted! It’s now feels warm and restful!

Love the red...my favorite color! We struggled with adding red walls to our dining room, but it was the right thing to do... ;)

Those window treatments are very cool, too..

OK, I'm just going to sneak in and take a short nap on that chaise, or maybe just read a good book. Don't mind me...

Love your red walls!

Oh, and not only warm and comfortable but it also looks like a million dollars. Would you share the color of red you chose? I am thinking of doing a long, narrow entry wall in a pretty red. Reds are so "touchy"...some with yellow undertones and some with blue. I like the blue base best, I am thinking.
